CAMINADE ROUTE ESPRESSO is the new frame - complete bike, entering the ESPRESSO CAMINADE RANGE. The ESPRESSO RANGE is compose for now of the playfull CAFERACER ESPRESSO city bike, the hardtail SIMPLETRACK ESPRESSO, the GRAVEL ESPRESSO and the new comer ROUTE ESPRESSO. All those bike are 100% hancrafted by Caminade in the city of ILLE SUR TETE in the south of France by the wellknow duo Brice & Sylvain.
No long explanation are required to understand that the ROUTE ESPRESSO is fully dedicated to road cycling, Route meaning Road.

The ROUTE ESPRESSO, already available on pre-order, is built from Caminade Osborn Aerospace grade set of tubes for the seattube and the down tubes. Other tubes are made of Columbus Life steel tubes and the bikes is TIG welded.
The geometry is the exact same one than the ROUTE66, 3 sizes proposed, featuring pretty short seatstays (398mm) that predict a fast bike when it is go time, but thanks to the use of steel tubes it ll keep a relative comfort, filtering the road, if you plan to ride long hours.

The main difference between those 2 frames, outside of the set of steel tubes and the process used to build them, is the shape of the seat-tube. If you know Caminade from the start, you know that their frames are all in curves, except for the ROUTE ESPRESSO that appears with a straight seat tube : it provides the possibility to have a  braze-on to fix a second bottle-cage, a feature that is not possible on the original ROUTE66 due the pretty curved seat-tube. Made of steel, CAMINADE built the frame with vertical Paragon Round rear Dropout with an integrated rear dérailleur hanger. Providing enough welding surface, those dropouts allow Caminade to propose the ROUTE ESPRESSO with disc brakes (140mm rotor at the rear) in option if you wish a reliable braking system under all weather condition.

Other generals features are a reliable bottom bracket BSC-BSA in 68mm threaded. The headtube is 44mm type allowing to set up a tapered or non-tapered 1"1/8, but a tapered fork is advised to gain steering precision and rigidity and even more if you take the disc option. The rear axle is a 135mmx10mm Quick Release. Seat-tube accept 31.6mm seatpost. The ROUTE ESPRESSO can be set-up  either with a double, triple or single-ring crank.
The frame weight is announce at less than 1,8kgs (3.96lbs) and the weight of the bike show in pictures is around 7.2kgs (15,87lbs) for a price that should be lower than the ROUTE66.

Do you remind that in January CAMINADE offered a quick preview of a TRIATHLON BIKE that looks visually familiar in some point to the ROUTE ESPRESSO ? It was built under the CAMINADE CUSTOM PROGRAM (tailored size, specific geometry...). The ROUTE ESPRESSO like all ESPRESSO bikes built 100% at the CAMINADE workshop can benefit of this interesting bespoke program. Ready for a bespoke ROUTE ESPRESSO ? Will the ONE4ALL, versatile full suspension bike of the french handcrafter, be the next to be part of the ESPRESSO range ?

During the month of June, CAMINADE will unveil its ROUTE ESPRESSO complete bikes with SRAM - CAMPAGNOLO components / groupset.
