New GRAVEL project from the Czech Handcrafter. After the SINGLE BE ADAMANTIS designed for Gravel - Road 4season with its 700x33 tires, here is the SINGLE BE GRIT PATH. The program is announced only by the name of the frameset : dirt, mud, path..and probably tarmac !
This bike is designed for riding on path a little a bit more damaged than the ADAMANTIS in order to make good use of is larger tires allowance in 700x38.
This frameset has not been design on the request of a customer, but for an event. It is a showroom-frameset for the one TOM managed to find a production time. Indeed, SINGLE BE activity is in full-swing, and we wish them prosperity for the near future.
Design and produce in CREZH REPUBLIC, TOM has use 2 brands of steel tubes and a total of 3 different series of steel tubes to build the GRIT PATH. Thus for the front triangle we find the Reynolds 725 series for the down tube and the seat tube, and Reynolds 631 for the top tube. At the rear, the chainstays are made of Reynolds 725 but the seatstays are Italian with the series Dedacciai ZeroUno CX that SingleBe regularly uses in its various all terrain frameset.
Dedacciai proposes, in addition to the usual "straight" versions, a series of chainstays (as well for the seatstays) series Zero Uno more or less bend depending on what the frame is designed for (Road, Cyclocross Gravel, MTB 26 or 29 "). Thanks to Dedacciai ZeroUno CX pre-bend by 12 degres that the GRIT PATH allows the mount of 700x38c tires. Regarding wheels axles: 142x12mm at the rear and 100x15mm at the front.
Brakes mounts are IS (international standard), a process relatively cheaper than the postmount but also used to harmonize with the brake mount on the front fork. The fork is made of steel and is an Asian production -understand bought on catalogue- to reduce the overall cost for this showroom-frameset. You must know that SINGLE BE design and weld very nice forks made of Reynolds steel tubes. Everything is a matter of budget and need.
The geometry is comfortable. The headtube is long, more than welcome on a gravel bike. For all that, the rear triangle is short with 418mm chainstays long bringing boost to the machine. The headtube angle is "conventional" with a value of 72 degrees which coupled with a 45mm offset gives a bike easy to drive.
Let's talk about the paint. The passion of the owner of the brand SINGLE BE is painting and it takes him long hours for a result such as this one. The design applied on this frame is a real success and has required more than 10 hours of work to ensure a perfect alignment between the headtube and the fork. The color is a -pearl blue- topped with numerous stripes like a a labyrinth. This design is also applied to the front of the fork, to the upper part of the top tube as well as to the seatstays.
This frame alrady has a lucky owner...And he is now riding roads, green forests and the more or less damaged paths of Slovenia. Let's quickly review the equipment mounted on this beautiful steel frame. The bike is equipped with a complete Shimano ULTEGRA groupset. Although the trend is to the single-ring, here the pilot opted for a 2x11 transmission by mounting a front dérailleur with collar. The crank is a 50-34T and the cassette 11-32T. A great choice for a 50/50 use road and path.
Brakes are TRP SPyre - mechanical activated by the Shimano Ultegra brake levers. For the wheels, no information on the hubs, however the rims are KOM tubeless ready - 21mm WTB and tires are Continental Cyclocross Speed 700x35 recommended for rolling terrain - dry.
