The SINGLE BE "QOM" for Queen of Mountain is a new realization of the Czech handcrafter Tomas. This signature is a little nod to the Queen of Mountain status of the well-known Strava software. QOM is the title given to the first female in a given segment. A beautiful Christmas gift.
The Single Be QOM runs on local trails and single tracks in the Czech Republic. It is designed for a playful and sporty use ... but it is above all to allow her owner to follow her boyfriend along the MTB track: they share the same MTB passion !
Flashy! It is impossible to miss her riding it. The NEON PINK finish is visible from a distance and gives a bit of colour in a winter grey weather. You can notice that the major of accessories have also been customized at the request of the owner. The hood of the stem is personalized with the QOM crown in neon pink, same for seatpost which also sees its graduations tinted with pink. The handlebar has also a flashy touch.
The frame of this MTB made to measure by the handcrafter SingleBe is designed for a pilot of 1m58 ... and yes she is riding a 29er. Her first request written on the technical specification was : easy to straddle! But of course, she wanted to have a bike with a sporty temperament, easy to handle. The height of the seat tube, bottom bracket to top tube is 420mm. The chainstays are only 432mm long to keep the bike reactive and easy to place in a curve. As a result, the total wheelbase is only 1071mm long on this 29er, a value that we would tend to find on a 650b of the same size.
In order not to be in the "spreadeagle" position , the 582mm top tube (horizontal value) is compensated by a small 35mm stem. The headtube angle of 70 degrees, coupled with a 44-millimeter offset and this small stem gives a handy bike to twirl between trees without being unstable.
For its manufacture, Tom, the owner of the brand has married steel tubes from different steelmakers. SingleBE has used Reynolds and Dedacciai steel tubes. The top tube is a Reynolds 631 with a variable outside diameter going from 30mm to 28.6mm. The downtube is a Reynolds 725 with a diameter of 34.9 mm, the stress is more important on this tube. And finally the seat tube which is also a Reynolds 725 has an outside diameter of 31.8mm allowing to mount a seatpost of 27.2mm diameter. The headtube, 44mm diameter allows to mount in this case a tapered fork. For a clean finish, the unique dérailleur cable goes inside the front triangle - internal routing.
It is on the rear triangle that Single Be uses Dedacciai ZeroEvo steel tubes. Seatstays and chainstays are built from it. The bottom bracket is BSA, dropouts are in 142x12mm and handmade by Single Be (they are also manufacturing their own rigid steel fork).
Let's review components. We start with the fork, Suntour Axon 29er with a 15mm axle. The transmission is a mix from different Shimano groupset: a unique XTR 11-speed shifter, XT M8000 rear derailleur, SLX FC7000 crankset in "single-ring mode". On the other hand for the "gears", it is a little bit more exotic with a Sunrace CSMX8 - 11/42 rear cassette, and the unique crank-ring model Absoluteblack oval 34t.
The wheelset is set-up made by SingleBE. It is composed with a pair of hubs Fire-Eye F15 100x15 at the front and Fire Eye R12142 - 142x12mm - at the rear. Rims are American Classic 101 - 32 spokes - Tubeless in 29 inches. The tires are Maxxis Ikon et Tread Lite.
To end, because we have to stop, the brakes. Those are hydraulic brakes (mineral oil) TRP Slate T4 - Ispec B to fit the XTR shifter.
