DOUZE CYCLES - INNOVATIVE ADJUSTABLE CARGO BIKE

By meeting Bruno, now Deputy Director of the company, specialized in communication and photography, the second version of the DOUZE CYCLES cargo bikes come to life and is presented to the public and professionals at the 2014 BERLIN BIKES SHOW (Berliner FahrradSchau). For 2016, the brand have reorganized its products range, let's have a look.

DOUZE CYCLES cargo bike are not standards model made of one and unique piece. As you can quickly understand with draws below, those cargo bikes are split "in the middle" with a rear frame where you sit and a front frame where you load - carry your kids or other stuff. The rear frame is made of Cromo 4130 steel tubes while the front is made of aluminium.

What are the main advantage of a such feature ? Separated into two parts, it fits in a car, can be stored easily in your house and if you have more than one front frame you can quickly change the length by mounting a longer or a shorter frame (requires 2 minutes of your time with an HEX key). Equipped with a rear 26" wheel and a small 20" front wheel. DOUZE CYCLES has mainly work on the manoeuvrability with a front wheel capable of turning 75° and allow you to make u-turn in tight place thanks to the double (2X2) cable steering system especially design for the brand (patented). Those cables are placed in the bike body protected from external shocks.

You can configure you own cargo bike by choosing your own frames and options in the configurator.
Traveller is the more versatile rear frame well adapted for women and men thanks to no top tube, it fits everyone. The Messenger is more standard in its shape featuring a top tube and is available in a Messenger Big Boy Edition for tall rider (more than 1m90). Front frames only varies from one to another by their different length Compact 400 - Standard 600 and Extra Long 800.

Regarding the transmission you have the choice between : Alfine 8 or 11, Sram X9 Groupset, Rohloff Speedhub 500/14, Carbon Gate Drive System and for the motor only the configurator allow you to choose between the MPF Drive engine or BIONX (not available in the regular range).

The Family can be set up with a Traveller front frame and Standard 600 and Extra Long 800 rear frame. Traditionnal or Electric, it can be equiped in option with a canopy for around 350 euros. Main advantage is that it comes delivered with the starter family pack including seat for kids with two 3-point harnesses, the “box”, a flexible waterproof cover and a plastic underside.

The URBAN range is equiped, depending on the model, with Shimano Alfine 8, GATE carbon drive belt system, MPF Drive motor, or front and rear lights. It does not come delivered with any starter pack or bags but Douze Cycles proposes many features in option if you need one of it like lights, child seat...

The professional series is the most raw of all the range to let professional workers customized at the maximum their cargo bike. It does not come with any pre-installed kit or bar. If some of those option looks necessary for your use, you can of course buy them. Depending on the chosen models, 2 are proposed, the transmission features Shimano Alfine 8 or Sram X9 groupset.
