GENESIS COLUMBIA ROAD – WOMEN AND MEN EASY ACCESS BIKE

GENESIS COLUMBIA ROAD (RD) is the brand new city bike from the GENESIS BIKES urban range 2016. Officially founded in 2006 under the name GENESIS, it is a small British brand based in the United-Kingdom that designed its first bike the "Day One" (still in the catalogue) in 2001. They are pretty famous for their steel bikes. Their global range now cover road, mountain, cyclo-cross, gravel, kids and fat bikes.
GENESIS is sponsoring independent riders but it is also the bikes supplier of the Madison Genesis team (UCI Continental level).

The GENESIS COLUMBIA ROAD is made of Genesis MjölnirDouble-Butted Cromoly (Cromo 4130 designed to Genesis specifications) in replacement of the usual Reynolds 520 that allow the GENESIS COLUMBIA RD to have a good ratio price / equipment without sacrificing performances of the bike.
The low diagonal toptube design let think at first sight that the GENESIS COLUMBIA ROAD is a women specific design bike, well it can be and this what we can think first. But this bike as globally been designed for men and women (Even if the saddle is branded for women...)! The idea is to have an easy access bike: easy to mount and dismount.

The GENESIS COLUMBIA RD is fully equipped right out of the box, nothing needs to be bought apart...or maybe a basket or bags to store your food back from the grocery. Rear rack, mudguards, chainguard, pedals (not shown on the product picture) are basics that you do not find directly mount on the bike each time.
This great looking steel city bike is equipped with Shimano Tourney DISC Brakes (mechanical / 160mm rotors) for optimal braking performance. The transmission is a 1x9 speeds mainly from Shimano Altus : 40T at the front and 11/34 for the cassette certainly enough for flat and with reserve to climb unexpected short & sharp ascents. Crankarms  are 165mm long for the size S and 170mm long for M and L.

This good looking steel urban bike is sufficiently equipped for constant city ride and casual ride in the week end. With 13,6kgs on the scale, you ll be happy to have disc brakes and a stiff bike when you ll add an extra 15kgs of grocery shopping on it !
