CAMINADE ROUTE66 ESPRESSO is the new frame - complete bike, entering the ESPRESSO CAMINADE RANGE. The ESPRESSO RANGE is compose for now of the playfull CAFERACER ESPRESSO city bike, the hardtail SIMPLETRACK ESPRESSO, the GRAVEL ESPRESSO and the new comer ROUTE ESPRESSO. All those bike are 100% hancrafted by Caminade in the city of ILLE SUR TETE in the south of France by the wellknow duo Brice & Sylvain.

The ROUTE66 ESPRESSO, proposed on pre-order since May2016 is from now officially available as a complete bike or single frame. It is built from Caminade Osborn Aerospace grade set of tubes for the seattube and the down tubes. Other tubes are made of Columbus Life steel tubes and the bike is TIG welded.

The geometry, 3 sizes proposed, is finally slightly different from the original ROUTE66, featuring short seatstays of 410mm (instead of 398mm on the ROUTE66) due to the use of a straight seat tube. Combined with steel tubes, the bikes keeps a relative comfort, filtering the road, it is perfect if you plan to ride long hours. Building the ROUTE66 ESPRESSO with a a straight seat tube allows to have a braze-on to fix a second bottle-cage, a feature that is not possible on the original ROUTE66 due the pretty curved seat-tube.

Made of steel, CAMINADE can built the frame with horizontal dropouts if you dream to ride it as a SingleSpeed or vertical Paragon Round rear Dropout with an integrated rear dérailleur hanger. Providing enough welding surface, those dropouts allow Caminade to propose the ROUTE ESPRESSO with disc brakes (140mm rotor at the rear) in option if you wish a reliable braking system under all weather condition. There is an internal cable routing for the rear brake.

Other generals features are a reliable bottom bracket BSC-BSA in 68mm threaded. The headtube is 44mm type allowing to set up a tapered or non-tapered 1"1/8, but a tapered fork is advised to gain steering precision and rigidity and even more if you take the disc option. The rear axle is a 130x10 or 135x10 for disc version. Quick Release. Seat-tube accept 31.6mm seatpost with an integrated seatclamp. The ROUTE66 ESPRESSO can be set-up  either with a double, triple or single-ring crank.

Various set-up are proposed by the French manufacturer. What is interesting to see is that if you wish to purchase the frame alone, Caminade propose it within 3 options : Cantilever, disc brake and even in Singlespeed-fixie-track version with horizontal dropouts. As always, if you want to have a custom ROUTE66 ESPRESSO set up with your own favorites parts, the best is to start from scratch.

CAMINADE sells also the ROUTE66 ESPRESSO over 6 various set-up and as promised in May, Campagnolo Groupset are available within 2 built against 4 SRAM Groupset. Lets take a closer look.
