The CAMINADE GRAVEL ESPRESSO is the brand new gravel bike from CAMINADE. The emblematic brand based in the South West of France (close to Perpignan) designed and produced all its frames in France with steel tubes from Columbus, Reynolds and their own Caminade Osborn Aerospace grade set of tubes.. The range cover road with the ROUTE66, mountain bikes with the SIMPLETRACK, the ONE4ALL and gravel with the GRAVEL and this brand new GRAVEL ESPRESSO !
Roads or paths: it is at home anywhere, and this is what resume the best the CAMINADE GRAVEL ESPRESSO ! This a pure sportive STEEL GRAVEL BIKE providing traction, comfort and stability thanks to the technical property provided steel tubes and the Caminade Specific (bend tubes) design that is also the "signature" of the brand. It is available as a single frame, Frame + Fork or as a complete bike : 100% handmade in France.
The CAMINADE ESPRESSO use the exact same geometry and same steel tubes than his big brother the CAMINADE GRAVEL so concretetly it have the same dynamic and sportive spirit ! It is made of Columbus for the down tubes and the rear triangle, Caminade Osborn Aerospace grade for the bent seat tubes and the bent top tubes.
The main difference is that the CAMINADE ESPRESSO welding procress is TIG instead of fillet brazing and that it is built directly at the headquater of CAMINADE instead of their subcontractor (Cyfac).
The shape of the CAMINADE ESPRESSO is a little bit different from the CAMINADE GRAVEL, the seat tube and the top tube (Caminade Aerospace grade steel tubes) are less bent. This is a way to identify it from its brother, but technically this choice is also done to allow the mount of a water bottle cage on the seat tube (that is not possible on the CAMINADE GRAVEL).
As a basis, the headtube (from Reynolds) is 44mm allowing a tapered or a non tapered fork, the bottom bracket is BSA 68mm threaded. Seatclamp is integrated for a 31,6mm seatpost. On the rear side, the rear triangle allow to mount tires up to 40mm (1"1/2) and the rear axle is 142x12mm. The colour is up to what you like, but outside of the caminade headtube logo there is no lettering saying Caminade or Espresso, but i guess that the shape of the frame is saying by itself that you are riding a CAMINADE bike !
If you plan to use this bike for travelling, participating to a race like the transcontidental, or use it sometimes as a commuter and you wish to use bags on a rack instead of frame bags, eyelets are an option (100 euros).
With the CAMINADE ESPRESSO you have no more excuses to turn back when the road turn to a gravel path... like a long time ago we all had only one bike to do all.
It is available as a single frame with many options like the Columbus Mud Disc carbon fork starting at 900 euros (average weight 2000g in size M) or as a complete bike both at an attractive price starting at 2499 euros.
