Officina Battaglin – POWER+ Handmade in Italy

POWER+ is the road racing machine from the Italian Handcrafter OFFICINA BATTAGLIN. Officina means "workshop", and this is where all those Italian steel frames are handmade from Columbus Italian steel tubes. The brand is named after its owner names Giovanni BATTAGLIN, who is the second racer in history to have achieved the Giro-Vuelta double in 1981 (1973 Eddy MERCKX, 1981 Giovanni BATTAGLIN, 2008 Alberto CONTADOR).

The POWER+ is built from "Columbus Spirit HSS" triple butted steel tubes (Columbus Niobium) a light and reliable set of steel tubes perfect for racing machine. The "spirit" set of tube a high-end set of the range from Columbus, HSS meaning they are hydroformed - oversized and give to the downtube of the POWER+ this particular shape. The method use to build the frame is by fillet brazing, the advantage is not to overheat the tube and minimize the thermal distortion : it prevents to loose the original characteristic of the steel and guarantee its smoothness and durability. After production, welds are sanded to provide a seamless and clean look.

The compact and sloping steel frame have short chainstays (410mm) to provide a good responsiveness, a must to have for this road racing bike. The POWER features a tapered head tube 1” 1/8 1” 1/2, the frameset (frame + fork + seat collar ) is delivered with a carbon monocoque fork that, in plus of saving weight, bring strength, lateral rigidity and stiffness to feel confident at high speeds.
