RITCHEY P29er, the steel MTB legend is back with a slightly evolved version for 2016. Ritchey is an American bicycle company that develops, design and test bikes and components from now over 40 years. Tom Ritchey, its emblematic owner who is a former national lever racer, is one of the pioneers in the early days of mountain biking. From the beginning he is constantly thinking of ways to improve bikes, : many Ritchey designs and manufacturing methods have become industry standards.
The RITCHEY P29er is made of Heat-treated, triple-butted Ritchey logic II tubin. Logic II tubes use super short butted section, meaning that Ritchey have a longer central thin section than regularly seen on steel tubes, making the frame as light as possible. Tom Ritchey is focused on saving weight without compromising the strength and longevity of its racing bicycles.
For 2016, there are some slight changes on the P29er. The previous P29er Team RWB heritage colour edition was built with a adjustable horizontal dropouts and and integrated derailleur hanger and also a regular headtube. From now, it is equipped with "regular" vertical dropouts still with an integrated dérailleur hanger and a forged-and-machined 1.5” tapered head tube for integrated headset. Those are 2 good changes for an MTB that has always been dedicated to race...no more versatile dropouts helps the RITCHEY P29er to show its real identity. Of course the tapered headtube will help in the handling and also, if you start from scratch by purchasing the frame alone, to mount all modern front suspension fork.
Geometry has not change from the previous P29er. The 447mm chainstays length provide progressive acceleration that coupled with big wheels allow to keep a good pace when launched. The bikes is more design to be excellent on the distance than on short sprint. Coupled to Ritchey logic 2 steel tubes it guarantee comfort for long hours on the saddle. About handling, regarding the top tube effective length it fits for a 90-100mm stem and a 73cm handlebar on a 19"/L size for example, permitting to have a balance between fun and stability on downhill or technical singletrack.
Rear tire clearance for up to 2.25" tires, but as always some bigger size could fit, take a close look to ERTO. Keep in mind it is an XC bike, standard 2.25" tires will provide largely enough comfort with a nice air volume without compromising our average speed.

The RITCHEY P29er is now available as a frameset but also, and it is new, as a complete bike. The complete bike features mainly Deore XT 2x11 M8000 groupset mixed with Ritchey components, note that the front fork is a Rock Shox SID XX 29 Solo Air 100mm X-Lock.
The P29er is proposed with only one color or, with an extra fee, you can signed for the Heritage Custom Paint program and choose between the Team RWB, Urban CAMO, Commando CAMO or Sunset Fade colour scheme.
