ROAD RACER DISC and ROAD RACER are both racing bike made of steel from the American handmade brand CIELO. This brand is closely link to CHRIS KING ((hub, headsets Made in USA) because their founder is none other than Chris King himself. The brand was founded in 1978, and at that time its creator was making bicycle frames as many as hubs in the Henderson's bike shop store based in SANTA BARBARA. First frames were mainly racing models with an aggressive geometry to fit cyclists teams needs in the American territory, but re-badged. The brand was putten on hold in the early 1980 because is founder wanted to concentrate his work on the components produced under the name CHRIS KING.
28 years later in 2008, on a whim, a Cielo Framework faithful to the original start of the brand, is welded and then exhibited at The North American Handmade Bicycle Show. Needless to turn-around for hours, those bikes are made for speed - RACERS ! - Geometry is aggressive.
The frame is made of Columbus Life ovalized for a good stiffness on the front triangle, same at the bottom bracket and the rear bases for a rapid response and strong acceleration. The well thinking design and the use of steel on the ROAD RACER allows the frame to be self-filtering, more tolerant and invite you to go for a long ride. The quality, attention to details and precision are maximum in each process of design and manufacturing of each frame.
The ROAD RACER DISC is not a simple adaptation of the cantilever version. The back of the bike is designed and suitable for 135mm wide disc hub (130mm for the cantilever).
The bottom bracket is Press-Fit, head tube is 44mm for a tapered fork. Both models are available in cable shifting or electronic shifting configurations.

The ROAD RACER is sold with the ChrisKing InSet I8 headseat and the Enve™ Carbon Fork painted to match the frame colour. Same for the ROAD RACER DISC, small difference for the fork as it is delivered with the ENVE™ Carbon Disc Fork painted to match the frame colour.
