SUNN 5016R was firstly presented at the ROC D'AZUR 2015. It is part of the 2015 revival of the famous french brand Sunn launch in 1988 by Max Commençal (now owner of Commencal Bicycles). This brand is, since 2014, part of the Groupe Intersport. The SUNN 5016R is the unique bike made of steel for this 2016 range.
The SUNN 5016R wheel size is 650B and it is built around a CROMO 4130 Double Butted Steel frame which have the specificity to be equipped with sliding dropout. The 5016R is definitely a multi-purpose bike : sold equipped with a gear system it ll be easy to turn it to a singlespeed. It also mean that the SUNN 5016R is not a fully racing orientated machine, but mostly a versatile trail bike. The headtube is tapered and the fork mount on the bike is a 120mm : Fox 32 Performance - 650B 120 mm, 15 mm.
Available in 3 sizes, S - M - L, it is mainly equipped with Shimano Deore / Deore XT and Hutchinson Python Tires.
The painting and graphic design are based on previous logo and colour. It is a kind of memorial to show the transition between years since the entering of SUNN on the MTB Market. The main blue turquoise paint is a reference to the year 1995 with the "Sunn TEAM CHIPIE" colour scheme, if you remind the Downhill bike Radical PLUS, Sunn REVOLT, SUNN 5000..., François GACHET, Anne Caroline CHAUSSON, Miguel Martinez, Eric BARONE....and the MTB indoor challenge "SUPER VTT LA POSTE BERCY"....yep this blue turquoise and those logos mean all this !
The SUNN 5016R is a limited Edition and only 100 Bikes are available.
Price is about 1690 Euros in France.
