The RTT - Randonneuse Tout Terrain - is an Offroad Touring Machine developed by the French brand HISTOIRE BIKES (Histoire = Story). Starting from the series model, they have built a special edition "CONCOURS DE MACHINE" with extra components to answer the specifications of the event in order to race the 3 challenging stage proposed. They are classified "hors catégorie" as their RTT is not built in France but in Europe.

WHO IS HISTOIRE BIKE ? DATE OF BIRTH AND PHILOSOPHY..

HISTOIRE BIKE is a French brand specialized in travel bikes...wherever you plan to ride during 2 days or go for a world tour their bikes are ready for it. Based in Clermont-Ferrand the brand is created in 2014 from the volunteer of 3 friends, Nicolas, Christian and Sébastien.

Nicolas, owner of Sports Fusion and distributing ORTLIEB (german bike's bag) noticed that he is selling more and more travel bags but that there is still no middle range French brand that propose travels bikes like in Germany. Yes we have a lot of very very good craftsman that built handmade to measure and bespoke bikes, but the price is pretty high and not everybody can afford one. So on Nicolas came out with the idea to create HISTOIRE BIKE with 2 friends Christian and Sebastien in order to answer customers and bike dealers needs to acquire reliable, affordable and simple travel bikes. The "mission" of the brand is simple : democratizing travel bikes in France, like it is in Germany, by driving them being affordable and propose along their range all kind of machine : touring, camping, gravel, bikepacking, 26" or 700cc wheels...

HISTOIRE BIKE bikes are produced in Europe, only in limited edition or numbered. They arrive at the headquarter unpainted where they receive an anti-rust treatment, paint & varnish, headbadge and set up with components if the bike is purchased complete. All they bikes share those 4 features : high headtube to reduce the number of spacers and increase your body comfort for traveling, a carrying handle pretty welcome to lift up your bike,a 3 spokes rack to be sure you carry the right length in case you need to replace one during your travel....and they are, for most of them, compatibles with cantilever and disc brake.

WITH THE RTT, ROAD – GRAVEL…DO IT ALL

The RTT series model and the "CONCOURS DE MACHINE" edition share the exact same frame, ready for 700cc / 29" wheels, and components... of course the CDC edition is equipped with extra components requested for the contest that we ll review in details later. The frame is made of Cromoly steel Double Butted and features a carrying handle h-Plift® that really helps you to lift the bike on any necessary occasion like climbing in a train. There are also 3 set of braze on for bottle cages for thirsty emergency and a 3 spokes rack to always have the right length. The frame, built with an integrated seatclamp, is one of the rare one that is only disc compatible only while the rest of the range also accept cantilever. Unfortunately, for the moment, the RTT is only available in 3 sizes : S (46) / M (50) / L (54).
The rear triangle is wide allowing to set up large and comfortable gravel tires even mountain bikes tires...and who can do more can do less...of course you can set up tiny road tires. The front triangle has a long headtube that helps to reduce the number of spacers and increase the handling stiffness, also it naturally gives a better position for your back.
The front fork is made of Tange steel fork blade with a 3 attachment points on each side to set up anything you want : rack, water bottle cage, bags...

The RTT is designed to ride on any kind of path that comes under your tires....a sportive gravel bike designed for long or short ride with a strong loading capacity in "bikepacking mode" or more traditional with rack. It can be an ideal and affordable machine to participate to event life the FRENCH DIVIDE, TRANSCONTIDENTALE  or to take part to any of your adventurous but sportive travel....yeep keep in mind that this machine is not studied for a world tour in slow mode.

To be at home on any kind of track, the HISTOIRE BIKE RTT is equipped with a complete Shimano 105 drivetrain (5800 seriee) that features shifters, a double crankset 50-34 with a large road cassette 11/32...to be sure you ll climb anywhere and succeed on technical trails even loaded. The brake are the mechanical SRAM BB7 Road with front and rear 160mm avid rotor.
Handlebar, stem, seatpost are from Zipp - Service Course components range. Wheels are Mavicc Aksyum Disc with QR.

The RTT prepared for the CONCOURS DE MACHINE 2016, and also now proposed as a complete bike by HISTOIRE BIKE , features a rear Tubus FLy rack, an ORTLIEB Trunkg Bag. About light, the dduo of Supernova E3 Pro 3 and the SUPERNOVA E3 tail light 2 are powerised by the usual powerfull Velogical classic dynamo placed at the front.
