VELO ORANGE PIOLET is an adventure touring frame and is designed primarily for off-pavement touring including dirt and gravel riding.
Not everybody wish to race, some of us prefers to take the time to enjoy the landscape and life around them riding their bike. VELO ORANGE (headquarters is in Annapolis, Maryland USA) has developed relaxed bikes that are comfortable on a century ride.

The VELO ORANGE PIOLET frame is made of Cromo 4130 Double Butted with a pretty rigid mono-stay at the rear. Available in 26" for small sizes (XS and S) and 29" for the bigger size (M, L and XL) you can easily set up 650B+ if you wish.  It is design as an off road touring bike with exceptionnal tire clearance up to 700x2.4" - 650b x 2.85" so around 70mm large. You can easily mount rack and if you wish fender.
The fork is also made of Cromo 4130 Double Butted and featured a lots of bosses to mount fender, rack and / or water bottle cages. The fork is straight at the right length for the frame meaning is does not match any suspension fork...but do you need a front suspension on the VELO ORANGE PIOLET ? Designed by VELO ORANGE, the fork provide a pretty good handling even when the bike is loaded.
The frame and the Fork are only disc brake ready for 160mm rotor. You can go for hydraulic or mechanical disc brakes that are a bit more simple.

Should we call it an Hybrid as it is not a moutain bike and not a road bike ? Keep in mind that the VELO ORANGE PIOLET is an off pavement / road touring bike or at the most a gravel with huge tires !! Firstly designed to be set up with a drop handlebar as the top tube is quite short, you can adapt a flat bar and play with the lenght of the stem and with spacers for the high. The chainstays are pretty long with 460mm for the M to the XL (29" wheel sizes) and the bottom bracket is pretty low....this is why you cannot expect a kind of real MTB use. The dérailleur hanger is not replaceable and the drop-outs are vertical, so do not expect to transform this off pavement / road touring frame to a pure singlespeed machine (look at the VO Camargue for semi horizontal drop-outs). Rear spacing is 135mm (MTB smallest standard), disc mount are IS, the bottom bracket is a BSA/BSC 73mm threaded and you can set up a 27,2mm seatpost.

You can find below many pictures with different set up of the VELO ORANGE PIOLET with dropbar or flat handlebar, with or without rack.....but in any case big tires !!!
