What is preparing the steel bike brand, Made in France, Caminade ?
Caminade, on Facebook, is doing the buzz with a picture that let's think that they are, again,doing something great...a very interesting project. You all know their iconic front triangle design that you can found on all the Caminade range, this buzz pictures lets us see only the rear. And well, few noticeable change like an internal cable guide that will control THE BIG NEWS : the PINION GEARBOX !
On the CAMINADE website, no additional information. So we can give freedom to our imagination....so it ll be a Mountain bike, Hardtail, probably in Reynolds like the SIMPLETRACK but nothing says it will be a 29" or a 27.5". How could you ride this bike, ENDURO...? no extra information about it, but the PINION GEARBOX P1.12 is suitable for hard ride condition and therefore suggest an hardtail ENDURO in 27,5" or 27.5+, why not in Reynolds 853.... let s wait the first day of the ROC D'AZUR 2015 to meet the beast !
- UPDATE : on the TOPWHEELS FACEBOOK, the wheels that will equiped the CAMINADE PINION are doing the headline ! Finally they are based on the HOPE PRO 2 BOOST (148mm) Singlespeed and the set up is the following : "The components for "plus" formats arrive. Here WTB rims Scrapper (695g in 27.5 ") 45mm internal width, stitched with the new Hope pro2 hubs and boost singlespeed in orange and Sapim spokes D-light nuts orange also. A respectable weight of 2250g per pair." Please check the photo below.
BUT IT IS CONFIRMED that the bike will be an Hardtail in 27,5"+ !
What can we see on the picture ? the rear hub, according to PINION website and colour match, should be the PINION rear hub. The crank-arms are also PINION with Qfactor 174, FORGE model at first look, available in 170/175mm.
Front ring is 30 or 24 teeth’s, rear sprocket is 21 or 26 teeth’s. Also, if you check PINION catalogue, a BELT sprocket is available, but this is not possible for this bike (not open).
If we look more closely to the transmission, it is a gearbox PINION, a product developed and designed in Germany. The chosen model by CAMINADE it the PINION P.1.12 suitable for mountain biking and can replace the equivalent of a 2x10 transmission. It prevent from any usual transmission problem, it can perfectly run in the sand, the mud, you can change the gear while riding but also reverse pedalling and even if you are stopped. The P.1.12 is about 2350grammes and allows better weight distribution throughout the bike front / center / rear. The entire box is built in Germany, tested one by one before, being sent to the brand, by a manual method but also via a machine. (see photos below).
