This CYCLES VICTOIRE VELOCE free itself from borders and now ride in Asia close to Hong-Kong. Launched in 2011, Cycles Victoire built steel frames and complete bikes from Columbus, Reynolds and TANGE steel tubes. This expansion to the Asian continent is the result of a close work between the french handcrafter and LIFE CYCLES which is now distributor for Cycles Victoire in Asia.
This Cycles Victoire VELOCE is designed for a road cyclist, Johnny, based in Hong-Kong. It is not the first VICTOIRE bike crossing the border, this one start the collaboration between Cycles Victoire and LIFE CYCLES.
Johnny was looking for a bespoke racing machine built from steel (a fetish), a comfortable but performing machine that would replace his Colnago C59 that became too demanding. Because he studied in Paris for several years, riding a French bike was more than an evidence to him. He felt in love with bikes from Cycles VICTOIRE for many reason : fillet brazing construction, transparent clear coat...and also the logo.
Johnny firstly wanted to ride a Cycles Victoire BELLEVUE. But after several conversation with Cycles Victoire, it came up that a VELOCE was the best machine to suit its specifications: a performing machine to ride over long distance and mountain in Hong Kong but also in Europe with 10 days trip filled with 150/200km in average per day...
As you know, Victoire bikes are all bespoke and personalized. This was how LIFE CYCLES, distributor of Victoire Cycles in Asia, came up for a bike fitting session with Johnny to determine its perfect position on a road racing bike and the right measurements.
Starting from those measurements, Cycles Victoire built the bike. Regarding the model, the length, the thickness and the profile of each tube, they had the full permission from Johnny to design "la crème de la crème".
LIFE CYCLES took in charge the set up of the bike, once the frame-kit arrived in Hong Kong, respecting all johnny's specifications on the groupset and components : Campagnolo Record, Chris-King headset, Praxis Zayante crank, Thomson seatpost, Brooks Saddle...
This VICTOIRE VELOCE steel frame is built from Columbus Spirit Premium tubeset, and as Johnny is a light rider, the down tube is from a small diameter of 38mm to respond to the main request to get a less demanding bike. Seatstays and chainstays are also made from small diameter steel tubes to increase comfort for its long ride while riding in Europe (up to 200kms per day). It features an internal cable routing, the stem is also tailored and handcrafted in-house.
The paintjob is also special, it is a grey vintage Porsche 911 - Steve McQueen's 1969 911S edition.
Weight is about 8,34kg, the bike is equipped with stainless steel components to keep the metal look, you could get it 1kg lighter with carbon parts.
Victoire Veloce price starts at 1490 euros (Columbus Life Steel tubes).
