COTIC CYCLES ESCAPADE 2016 - EVEN BETTER !

COTIC CYCLES ESCAPADE 2016 features a new geometry that answer customer feedback and test riders. COTIC CYCLES based in Shefield (UK) launched officially in 2003 is owned by Cy TURNER. Their first model, Soul that is still in the catalogue, is born from the desire to have a modern steel trail hardtail. Years after years they have built a complete bike range that cover commuter - life bike, MTB Hardtail, MTB Full suspension. Most of their bikes are made of steel because they simply like it : durable, strong, feels great to ride and has a grace of appearance and line that they love.

The COTIC CYCLES ESCAPADE gets a brand new geometry and 2 new colours for 2016..do not worry this bike does not lost is "do it all machine" label...it just get even better than before by answering customers and test riders feedback on some small but important details.

What's new on this versatile bike for 2016 ?
Horizontal dropouts have disappeared and are now replaced by vertical dropouts because it comes that a big majority of users are riding the ESCAPADE geared. For dérailleurs users it is now easier to pull in and out the rear wheel....especially if you plan to mount a rear mudguard... For those who wish to ride it singlespeed or with a gearhub, you can still check with COTIC CYCLES if previous ESCAPADE are still available (looks like yes for now), or you can set up a (noisy ?) chain tensioner but you loose all the interesting part of a singlespeed set up.

But the main re-work come from the bottom bracket that is now lower of 10mm (from -60mm to now -70mm) for a massive gain of stability and also the stack is now lower on the size 54 and 56cm (top tube effective lenght). It came out that for those 2 sizes got a too high stack and headtube : riders had issue, regarding their measurement, to be positioned low enough. The biggest size 58cm, out of a lower headtube did not change so much. They should not be so much consequence on the positioning of the handlebar on the COTIC CYCLES ESCAPADE, the brand considering that it it easier to got higher, with spacers,...than lower. Just expect it will not give too much front end flex. A new size, XS 52cm (top tube effective length) , is also available with a seat-tube of 45mm.
COTIC CYCLES advise, regarding the ultra compact geometry of the ESCAPADE - low and long, the use of a 350mm seatpost.

COTIC CYCLES ESCAPADE 2016 frame is not made from a new recipe and is still built around Cotic Fe Cromolye steel tubeset with its ovalform toptube. Enough braze on to mount almost everything Racks, mudguards, 2 bottles cage. The frame, and the Cotic RB3 fork made with cromoly tapered legs, are both disc only as the brand consider this system the most efficient for road and offroad riding. Offroad ? Yes the ESCAPADE offers a generous tire clearance up to 700x47 or 29"x1.7...ready for muddy trail ?
Bottom bracket keep the old but good 68mm BSA Threated with enough clearance to fit almost any crankset : single, double...triple.

Consider this machine as a pretty "do it all in one" : commuting in hurry to work with tiny speedy tires 700x28, roadie in the week-end...but without limitation to the tarmac if you comes up with big tires like 700x37...you will enjoy to ride on this nice muddy trail...should i say gravel ?
